We had no problems. Our hostess and servers were prompt. Our water glasses were refilled regularly. The bruschetta was fantastic. The cold antipasto was delicious. I had never tried prosciutto with melon and it was really good. The Caesar salad was great. The dressing was pleasantly tangy. My husband had the grilled salmon and loved it. The potatoes definitely needed salt, but once salted they were good. I had the chicken parmigianna. The breading was crisp and the cheese was perfectly browned. I enjoyed the spaghetti that came with it. My son got a half portion of fettucine alfredo. It also needed salt, but again, once salted was fantastic. All of the pasta was perfectly al dente. We sat on the patio and it was pleasant. I liked that it was secluded and away from the road. All in all a very pleasant experience. I look forward to coming back.

Catastrophic Dinner at Primo. We just suffered through a horrendous experience at this pathetic excuse for a restaurant. This was a dinner for approximately 50 people and it was a disaster for everyone. Pros: Our wonderful table-mates that suffered through this abysmal 4-hour "meal." Cons: Our room of 50 guests had one server...the beginning of our nightmare. The food was worse than circa 1974 airplane food...BAD. One of our table mates' steak was served 25 minutes before my fish entree. We live 10 minutes away and NO ONE has ever mentioned this mausoleum of a restaurant and now we now why!!!!! I could go on and on about this disaster but I won't.

Probably the most amazing service, food and atmosphere combo in salt lake. It's not cheap but worth every penny. The Chef comes out and talks to u, the family that owned this place for years still work here and will serve ur food. I have been coming here for years. Read the reviews here and wanted to leave one, never saw anything like this before. Always good service, fast and perfect food .

Sorry, Primo. Even though the food you served our party tonight was pretty good, I don't think many SLC diners care to spend 3-hours (7 PM - 10 PM) dawdling over dinner. Maybe in NY or Chicago, somewhere, but not here. This is the first thing the owner should understand. Say what you will about food cooked to order and the time this takes - but the guess is that your kitchen is way understaffed. Also not sure who directs the wait staff. Friday night? The place should have been packed. Nowhere close. I would also say that that the menu posted on this site is not only cluttered and confusing, but pricing is all over the place. I might add that restaurants of lesser style have drink and dessert menues to browse. Ordering, a very disjointed process. The place looks ok and the food is above average, but you need to tighten this place up quite a bit - very quickly.

When you go to Primo make sure you have plenty of time. Here was our timeline. We receive water: minute 20 We receive bread on the table: minute 45 Someone takes our order: minute 46 We receive our appetizer: minute 66 We receive salads: minute 77 We receive our entrees: minute 92 We exit the restaurant: minute 120 The food was ok, but nothing special for the price. The majority of our party (3 of 5) was underdressed. Maybe try dressing up and seeing your timeline. Let's compare!

Great place! The restaurant is classy and the patio is gorgeous. The food was very good and I would recommend it to anyone. The food can be a little pricey but worth it for the entire experience.

Terrible! They cancelled a New Years reservation for 12 ninety minutes before the reservation. Wouldn't make it up with anything (told us we could sit outside in 19 degree weather). They get middling reviews anyway. Don't waste your time...there's so much better food in the Salt Lake area.

Just had our office Christmas party there and could not be more disappointed. Appitizers were fine but we ran out and they seemed slapped on a tin plate. We were then served a salad that tasted great but was minimal, no tomatoes or croutons just lettuce and cheese. Looked like they ran out of lettuce. Embarrassing! Then came the main course. Once again the plate looked like a vast play ground with no equipment. The mashed potatoes were served with a small ice cream scoop 3 spiggs of asparagus and a mini protein. Dessert was berries with sabayon, actually 12 raspberries with sauce. It almost filled the bottom of the bowl. Once again, tasty but people actually laughed when it came out because it was so small. Over all they made sure 52 people would never return. I've eaten there before and really like it but they were not able to handle a large group and the staff seemed put out to be there. Took our special night and made it a nightmare. Sad and disappointing.

They were fairly organized for Valentines day--gave each woman a red rose and seated us within a few minutes of our reservation time. The front lobby is beautiful and comfortable. The restaurant us on two floors with some booths and some tables. There was a set menu with a good variety of entrees plus appetizer, soup of salad and dessert included in the fixed price. They serve hot bread with butter first. I had delicious zucchini strip wrapped hot mozzarella balls with marinara sauce; my hubby had crab cakes. He ordered the house salad with apple slices, candied walnuts and sundried tomato pesto dressing; I chose the cream of asparagus soup. I liked--not loved--the chicken piccata with lemon butter, noodles and capers; my husband devoured his rack of lamb with mashed potatoes, fresh carrots and asparagus. Both desserts were amazing--German chocolate mousse cake and raspberries/strawberries with thick cream. We will be back on a quieter evening to try other menu selections. The owner and staff members asked several times how we were doing and if we liked the food.

Last weekend we had our annually company holiday dinner at Primo and wow what a great time had by all! Phoenix and the rest of the staff were great and the food was amazing, the hors d'oeuvres were fantastic. The crab cakes and the clams were fresh and very tasty, the stuffed ravioli was amazing and it was stuffed with crab and other seafood with a nice white wine sauce. Then came the entrees and they were unbelievable, the rack of lamb with the mushroom sauce and the stuffed veal chop was was out of this world, then came desert. The desert was sabayon with raspberries the perfect tartness of the berries went very well with the sabayon. Then to finish the night we had a nice Irish coffee with Jamason whisky. The service was great and we will be back very soon. Thanks Primo! UPDATE! People this is not CHUCK-O-RAMA to belly up to the trough to graze:)

Service was perfect (thanks Becky), food was delicious and the chef checked with us twice to be sure our meal was exactly as we ordered. The venue is over the top urban, yet private. Great date night or special event.

First time dining here. Excellent customer service.... Great suggestions of food from waiter. I had a child & they created a simple change to help her love her meal. I felt we were all underdressed & with kids... didn't treat us any different. Their lamb shank dinner was a large portion. Sometimes restaurants only give you a few. I had their crab cakes. Best ever.

Ambiance lacking for Italian restaurant. The food was above average, but expected given the pricing. The service we had was outstanding. I wouldn't go back, but only because I much prefer a different atmosphere.

The food was absolutely amazing. Everything is made fresh. Veal, shrimp, pasta are cooked to perfection. The spices and herbs blend harmoniously with the natural flavor of the meat, bringing back peaceful memories of Italy in the summer time. Compliments to the chef.

I never have given a restaurant a one star before but this place deserves a zero if it were possible. I would rather eat my own hand off. First, it took 3 hours just to get food. The Caesar salad - had 2 croutons; sea bass tasted like a filet from McDonalds & because it only took 2.5 hours to get food, we skipped dessert. You are better off going to Olive Garden - at least the bread isn't stale and they refill your water there in a timely manner.

We recently went to Primo for the first time with high hopes. We were first greeted by the person we think was the owner. This guy acted like he didn't want us in the restaurant. I don't think we were ever waited on by the same person twice. The wait staff was unfriendly. We had to ask for a menu. The food and drinks were poorly timed. Nobody came by to check on us to see if everything was okay. We ordered wine, appetizer's, dinner and coffee, in short, we spent a lot. The food was subpar and the service was awful. This is a fairly expensive restaurant and feel like I was ripped off. Don't waste your time and money, go somewhere else.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
